SUMMER
SOLSTICE A weekend celebration with Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar, Master of
Naada Yoga, Creator of Microchakra Psychology and InnerTuning® and
Alisa Rose JUNE 20 - 22,
2008 The Solstice marks the longest of days and
shortest of nights on Mother Earth's journey around the Sun. The
significance of this event has been recognized by the ancient cultures in Sun
Temples in India, pyramids in Egypt, and the Stonehenge in the U.K. not to
mention Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, A Lovers'
Paradise. The weekend workshop will be dedicated to the
theme of honoring the sun. The sun is represented in our physical body by the
solar plexus and in our subtle body by the third chakra whose dominant
element is fire . Intensification of this fire by means
of spiritual discipline (tapas) helps to transform our gross energies into
finer energies. The light of the sun radiates its warmth over nature,
revealing the omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence of the Divine. It is
the eyes, the sense organ for the third chakra, which receive this light; when
the eyes are saturated with the beauty of external nature they become content
and turn inward. This is evident by the peace felt in the lazy days of summer,
lying on the lawn, with eyes closed and contentment registering.
There
is a very special stillness that pervades at the time of Solstice which we will
experience at the conclusion of a Fire Ceremony. In this ancient ritual,
samigree (Himalayan herbs) are offered to the Fire, with intentions to purify
our subtle bodies as well as the space around us. This ceremony is said to burn
past Karmas. In addition to the third chakra, the first and fifth
chakras are also solar chakras. Participants will engage in practices to align
these three chakras. The mantra Santoshi Mata, from the archetype of
contentment, will be used to enhance this alignment. We will also practice
Surya Namaskar and other yogic practices. Solar heat will be cooled by
tuning to Nature and afternoon tea-picnic under the trees and, if you wish, a
dip in the spa-pool surrounded by green woodlands.
