The Times of India
Correspondent asked the Journey to the Source Pilgrims: "How have you been
affected -- personally and professionally -- by Professor Bhatnagar's work?"
Here is how a few of them responded: "Having worked with
Professor Bhatnagar I can feel and understand better where I am and accept it,
because I can differentiate and integrate more and feel better about the
process of life. If I respect that in me, I can respect it better in people
consulting me and help them to find themselves and love their own way".
Milene Polis, Psychologist (France)
"The value of the work of
Professor Shyam Bhatnagar in which he uses the chakras as a means of helping
the individual to open up his/her own potential lies on two levels. The first
aspect is that he has taken the charkas and has differentiated these through
his sub-divisions of each chakra into seven micro-chakras. The chakras are
thereby brought into focus in ways, which correspond with the work that has
been done by Western psycho-analysis and psychologists. Through these
sub-divisions, and the ways in which each chakra relates to the whole, he has
brought to the field a perspective, which has been done by no one else. The
second aspect is the introduction of the Divine into each level of development.
The chakras are wheels of Divine energy. Bringing the sense of the Divine into
every level of psychological development in profound-- a wonderful contribution
to Western psychology". Betsy Helpern, Jungian
Psycho-analyst (USA)
"New York ...I found Sri Shyam
Bhatnagar's approach to psychology based on Indian wisdom very appropriate for
the make-up and workings of modern man. So scientific, illuminating and
clarifying is this material that I decided to pursue his teachings. As a singer
and voice teacher, I am able to make very good use of his concepts of Sound. I
find that my Yoga teaching has improved enormously through my studies with
Shyamji. I realize how profoundly my outlook on life has been uplifted
spiritually". K. Milo , Singer, Voice Teacher, Yoga Teacher
(Amsterdam, Netherlands)
"I have known Sri Shyam Bhatnagar
since 1975. With his sound and knowledge he took a 'photograph' of me from the
inside and gave me the knowledge and tools to tune into my Self. Now, with his
practical advice on prana/breath control, nutrition and vibration/mantra, I am
able to balance, to accept and follow whatever presents itself. And I am
learning to feel what is right for me . . . finding the Inner Guru. I am a
psychologist. Shyamji's depth of knowledge of Microchakra Psychology
brings me beyond Western psychology into Beingness. I am grateful for having
met him". Carole de Vries Robles, Psychologist
(Amsterdam, Holland)
"I became involved in
Shyamji's work after taking a weekend workshop in Sound with him. I discovered
how powerful the effects of these sounds were on my nervous system. Wishing to
understand more about how sounds work in promoting the health of the psyche and
the evolution of the spirit, I began a course of treatment with him, which has
been a continuous learning process. I am increasingly fascinated by the
profound wisdom of these ancient teachings. For me, they help to fill the huge
void in the psyche, which has been created by the materialism of our modern,
industrial society; by the loss of connections with family and community; and
by over-emphasis of individual freedom. The spiritual practices, which I have
learned through Shyamji, have enabled me to experience a deep sense of
connection between my own energy system and that of the Cosmos.
Mrs. Hope Cobb, Writer (Princeton, USA)
"Meditation is an important part of
my life. The study of chakras and sound is an intricate part of this process.
It is helpful in the drama workshop I teach in preparing students to let go of
fears, and in connection with play-acting". Day McDowell,
Drama Teacher/University (Washington, D.C., USA)
